The Rude Mechanicals – Camera Obscura – Roger 9000 »

Take a walk on the weird side with

The Rude Mechanicals
The Art-rock inspired Rude Mechanicals has been compared to The Tiigerlillies, early Roxy Music, Nick Cave and Tom Waits. They’ve been described as Post-Punk, Prog and Dark Cabaret – altogether creating a music that can best be described as “wild, wicked weirdness… a little bit Flying Lizards, a little bit Native Hipsters and a great deal like nothing you’ve heard before…” (Tom Robinson BBC6).

This outing sees them in a slightly stripped down “Lite” version with Jowe on various acoustic instruments and electronics, Cos on baritone guitar, Kevin on drums all lead by the mysterious diva Miss Roberts…

And Roger 9000
Roger creates songs about life cycles and stories. Rooted in the classical form, he fuses ancient and modern textures to produce a sonically experimental style. With a wide range of cultural influence in his background he draws upon this heritage in order to further explore his musical future. He lives and works in London teaching the piano, and performing with his band Sacrifice and Bliss. Roger graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music where he studied as an Operatic Counter tenor.

Camera Obscura
Atsuko Kamura – vocal, electrics. Formed the first all feminist punk band “Misutama Shobodan” in Japan in 80’s and also formed vocal improvisation duo “Honeymoons” which toured in US and EU. Moved to UK and joined Frank Chickens. Current project weaves improvisation into composition. Enjoying to explore any forms of vocal. In parallel she has explored improvisation with masters of the art like Tenko, Fred Frith and John Zorn, Charles Hayward and Lol Coxhill.

Lords of the Hedonist present Wonder/Wander/Underland »

Before Vinyl Deptford transforms into Sister Midnight we Lords of the Hedonist will have one final jig on the merry go round.

An event made specifically for Vinyl Deptford, an event like no other where 4th walls are broken, and linear theatrical experience broken down, where the space itself becomes a performer, where the audiences experience of the performance will not be as a simple viewer but more as something akin to a chess piece moved by the performer, by seen or unseen means.

You will be encouraged to view the performances on a cctv monitor and allow anything beyond this to happen at the will of the performance.
